    Description

    The item for sale here is a used Sound Devices 552 Five-channel Portable Production Mixer with Integrated Recorder. Included in the sale are the 552, two Sound Devices XL-2 cables (TA3 to XLR male), an XL-TA55 Mixer Linking Cable, a used 32 GB SD card, and a printed manual. A power supply is not available. This unit was purchased in 2012 and was used primarily for classical music recording. It has been stored in an air conditioned studio when not in use. The serial number is HY0009294003

    The 552 appears to be in excellent working condition, and the preamps sound great. I was unable to test everything, but all of the following are working fine: mic inputs (with and without phantom power), basic mixer functions on all five channels (gain, fader knob, pan, and filter), test tone, balanced outs (XLR and TA3), digital out (tested on AES-A), headphone out, direct outs, and basic record/playback functions. I used the 552 to reformat the included 32 GB SD card, and I reset the unit to factory defaults before packing. I have no reason to believe there are problems with any of the untested features.
    Cosmetically it shows a few signs use (scratches, smudges and some minor dings on the edges), but it generally looks good.
