The Chinese dissident, the car crash and the petition

On July 21, 2019, Yu Hongming (Freeman) was driving from Auckland to Parliament to protest the Chinese Communist Party’s interference in New Zealand, with the hope of delivering a petition to political leaders when his life changed.
Yu was travelling with fellow pro-democracy campaigners Xi Weiguo (48) and Wang Lecheng (47). Both died in the crash.
